After a few weeks of searching after we closed the deli I have a job. I’ll be proudly slinging wine for a local distributor. It has been a tough month, I hate job interviews but I hate more the waiting by the phone for offers. You wonder to yourself where is the love; you think to yourself if only I said this or that, or oh my God why did I say that?
But for all of the hand wringing, I got an offer this week that I accepted. A former associate of mine is a big
deal wine guy and importer of Austrian wines and when I reached out to him he put me in touch with the distributor he works with. It is a great opportunity for me to learn wines as well as the wine business. I’ll be handling a good chunk of Northern Virginia, it is a good place for me to start and I am very appreciative of Select Wines for taking a chance on me.
For those businesses that closed after us I say good luck, it is a tough market out there, but there are jobs. I hope to be able to keep in touch with our friends downtown, our email remains the same and I will be posting on this blog from time to time. I also want to say thanks to our friends who have sent us notes, whether they were on the website or via email, we appreciate all of our former customers; it was a lot of fun for us to meet you and serve you.
