So I’m often asked about how we come up with the names of our sandwiches. Well let me tell you it ain’t easy. We have a number of people who come into the Deli regularly and we thought it would be fun to name sandwiches in honor of their jobs or their company.![]()
You’ll see our standards like the Judge or the Sheriff; also quesadillas for the Clerk and the Commish. As for the Castro, we knew we wanted a pork loin sandwich and Deputy Castro inspired us to make it with Cuban style spices. We have specials called “The Mayor” and “The Court Reporter.” We named one sandwich after a dog… I’ll let you guess which one that is!
People seem to like the names we came up with, we thought keeping the courthouse theme would be fun, we have also tried to honor some of regulars from downtown with names for the specials we run. We are especially pleased with the Plea Bargain. We thought it was important to try to have a meal deal for all of the civic employees but we didn’t want to call it a meal deal, or a value meal, or a blue plate special. But then we thought of the plea bargain, and it seemed just perfect, and so deli history was made.
